Catch Up, Keep Up, Move Ahead with the Lear One to One Advantage!
/Personalized instruction fosters motivation. Students who actively participate in their learning experiences advance more readily and with more enthusiasm. At Lear Educational Center, instruction begins with an assessment of the individual student's prior knowledge. The student then moves forward at an appropriate pace which is the most effective for successfully progressing along a curriculum.
With the Lear Advantage of systematized, intensive instruction, the student demonstrates his understanding of new material, having his questions answered so that he will complete homework assignments with more accuracy and enthusiasm. Learning is reviewed and mastery of the increased foundational knowledge is achieved before moving on to the next concept.
Maximizing the potential of each individual student is the mission of Lear Educational Center. We share this goal with our students, providing them with one-to-one academic coaching and scholastic tutoring. Our intensive sessions fully engage the student's attention as he actively participates, reinforcing impulse control to resist distractions. The student develops confidence in his ability to advance as he learns new concepts and realizes that he has achieved preparation to learn more. This motivates him to learn even more.
Executive function skills, learning skills and strategies grow as the student puts them into practice during the sessions. Goal-directed habit patterns are reinforced to become personal standards.
Executive function skills are vital skills for a lifetime of success.
• the ability to maintain attention, to persevere with focus when appropriate. The ability to hold an intention, plan the activity, get started, monitor progress, and follow through to completion.
• the ability to shift attention when necessary. Having mental flexibility to use various calculations to solve math problems, to explore new opinions, to move on to another subject. Shifting ability also allows us to adapt to new environments.
• organization – maintaining orderliness, prioritizing, being prepared.
• time management – scheduling, awareness of assignments, planning ahead, preparation, understanding the consequences of procrastination, appreciating the confidence from being ready.
• short-term working memory – ability to recall instructions and newly presented knowledge
• impulse control and emotional regulation – behaving appropriately, having successful social interactions and peer pressure management, avoiding risky actions, resisting off-track impulses.
