Some students require teaching approaches that vary from the traditional classroom instruction. 

Some students have learning differences which make it difficult to grasp the material to be learned unless it is presented in a specialized manner. 

The Lear Advantage, our One-to-One systematized, intensive, and individualized instruction, helps these students to reach their potential.

At Lear Educational Center, the student actively participates in his educational program, meeting incremental goals to mastery and retention before moving on to a new concept. 

This intensive review and recall enhances the student’s sense of achievement as they recognize their progress. Interaction and participation maintains the student's interest and motivates them to persevere. Building a solid knowledge foundation enhances the student’s self-esteem and self-confidence to learn the next level’s material.  

We use the Wilson Reading System© to maximize the student’s potential to read, spell, comprehend, and retain literacy skills.  These skills are fundamental to all learning. The Wilson Reading System© is highly acclaimed and widely-recognized for its success in teaching students at all levels, at all ages, and for students with learning differences. 

We provide instruction in writing on all levels, from elementary through college. Aspects covered include organization, outline, composition, content knowledge, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, neatness, structure and source referencing. Students are guided with a rubric appropriate for all genres that is designed to meet national writing standards.

 At Lear Educational Center, we use programs designed to maximize the student’s potential to learn math. Our remediation is aligned with Pennsylvania Common Core Standards. Concepts are taught in multi-sensory presentations, with review of comprehension and retention to mastery as the student successfully progresses through more complex levels.  Study skills and strategies are also taught. Our goal is to ensure that students are able to competently read and understand mathematical problems and determine the steps necessary to solve the problems.

At Lear Educational Center we provide one-to-one academic coaching and individualized tutoring on all levels, primary through college, for most subjects and for most standardized tests.  We interface with schools, working with the curriculum appropriate for each student. We accommodate and compensate for learning differences, helping students meet IEP and remediation goals.  Our students learn study skills and strategies so that they can better understand their current coursework and meet the challenges of tomorrow.
