Summer Slide? – We’re here to help them soar instead!
/Students forget an average of two months’ worth of learning during the summer vacation unless they have regular reviews of their knowledge and skills. This is called ‘summer slide’. Since the losses are cumulative, by the end of sixth grade, some students will be about two years behind their peers. This is especially the case with a slide back in reading because solid reading skills are required to succeed in all subjects.
In addition to the effects of the usual summer slide, many students are already behind in their studies. This past semester’s coronavirus change of instruction from classroom to computer has been a significant challenge.
Many students didn’t feel personally involved with their online classes and were not motivated to keep up. Students who actively participate in their learning experiences advance more readily and with more enthusiasm.
• The Lear Advantage of one-to-one, systematized, intensive instruction, focuses on the individual student, motivating him to maximize his potential.
• At Lear Educational Center we assess and reinforce foundational knowledge, filling in any portions of a curriculum that the student might have missed or might have misunderstood.
New material is presented step-by-step with the student demonstrating his understanding of the new material, having his questions answered and his new knowledge reviewed. Mastery is achieved before progressing to the next step.
